A trending video shows an American man, married to a Nigerian woman, passionately lamenting the rising cost of living in Nigeria.
Holding a bottle of water, he complained that he used to buy the same bottle for just 100 naira, but now it costs 250 naira.
He added that even a bottle of Coke now sells for 500 naira, and Uber fares have become outrageous.
He explained that he spent 7,000 naira on a trip to Mushin, whereas that amount could have taken him to Lagos Island.
He went on to express his frustration, saying that 200 naira can now only get a very tiny portion of puff-puff. When he attempted to buy garri for 200 naira, he was told the minimum amount he could get was 400 naira. “How do people even eat?” he wondered aloud. He also noted that pure water, which used to cost just 20 naira, is now selling for 50 naira.
What makes his reaction even funnier is the way he speaks Pidgin English, frequently hissing in frustration as he expresses himself. The video, shared by his wife on their Instagram page, has since gone viral, attracting a lot of reactions.
