Peter Obi Recounts Rejecting ₦120M House Gift, ₦20M Birthday Party

Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate and former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, has recounted rejecting a ₦120 million house gift on his birthday.

According to Peter Obi, he requested that the funds be used to build classrooms in three institutions across Agulu, Ekwulobia, and Abatete.

Additionally, he declined a ₦20 million birthday party, opting to invest the money in education.

This led to the donation of 200 desktop computers to schools in Anambra State, showcasing his commitment to prioritizing impactful initiatives over personal gains.

Notably, Peter Obi is known for living modestly, having disclosed in 2017 that he owned only one wristwatch, which he had used for 17 years, and two pairs of black shoes.

On his 64th birthday, Peter Obi spent the day in Rome, praying for Nigeria and its leaders, and reiterating his desire for people to focus on supporting meaningful causes.
