A video of a young Nigerian single mother breaking down in tears after selling her mobile phone at Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos, has stirred widespread sympathy online.

The emotional footage shows the woman crying uncontrollably as she explains that she was forced to sell her phone to buy food for her daughter.

The woman had arrived at the market hoping to sell her phone for a reasonable amount, lamenting that she had no other option to provide for her child.
