CAF Shifts Rivers United Vs Black Bulls Clash, Porto Clear Zaidu Sanusi For Europa League Tie

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has rescheduled Rivers United’s CAF Champions League second preliminary round second-leg match against Mozambique’s Black Bulls.

Originally fixed for Sunday, November 26, the decisive encounter will now hold a day earlier, Saturday, November 25, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. Kick-off remains 4 p.m.

CAF did not state any reason for the change, but the new date gives Rivers United a day less to prepare for what is now a must-win fixture. The Nigerian side trails 1-0 on aggregate after losing the first leg in Maputo and must win by at least two clear goals to advance to the lucrative group stage of the competition.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles defender Zaidu Sanusi has been included in FC Porto’s squad for Thursday’s UEFA Europa League clash with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

The 26-year-old had been sidelined for nearly two weeks after sustaining a calf injury while on international duty with Nigeria. His absence forced him to miss Porto’s domestic cup tie last weekend.

However, Sanusi returned to full training on Wednesday and was cleared by the club’s medical team for the trip to England.

He featured in Porto’s opening two Europa League matches this season and is expected to play a key role as the Portuguese giants look to strengthen their qualification hopes in Group C.
