Ikorodu City Close In On NPFL Top Spot After Beating Warri Wolves Away [Matchday 12 Results]

Ikorodu City kept their title hopes alive on Sunday with an impressive 2-0 win away to Warri Wolves, a result that pushed them closer to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) summit.

Tomisin Adebayo opened the scoring for the visitors in the 18th minute at the Ozoro Stadium, before Goodluck Anuba doubled their lead just before half-time to seal the victory.

It was another statement performance from the Oga Boys, who have now gone seven matches unbeaten and picked up four wins in their last five NPFL games.

The win leaves Ikorodu third on the NPFL log with 21 points, two behind leaders Nasarawa United and one behind Abia Warriors in second place.

In Enugu, Rangers returned to winning ways after edging Shooting Stars 1-0 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium. Chidozie Iwundu’s well-placed strike in the 27th minute proved enough to secure all three points for the Flying Antelopes. The result lifted Rangers to 10th on 16 points, level with the Oluyole Warriors, who remain below them on goal difference.

The highly anticipated Abia Derby between Abia Warriors and Enyimba ended goalless in Umuahia. Both sides struggled to find any breakthrough in a tense encounter that marked their 20th topflight meeting. The result kept Warriors second on 22 points, one behind Nasarawa, while Enyimba remain sixth with 17 points.

Elsewhere, Nasarawa United were held 1-1 by Kwara United in Lafia. Anas Yusuf gave the hosts an early lead in the second minute, but Aule Johnmark pulled Kwara level midway through the first half. The draw keeps Nasarawa on top of the NPFL table while Kwara sit seventh.

In Bauchi, Wikki Tourists left it late as Nasiru Jibrin struck in the 87th minute to hand them a 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes. The win moved Wikki to 12th place with 16 points, level with Shooting Stars and just one behind Rangers.

At their temporary home in Katsina, Kano Pillars’ struggles continued after they were held to a goalless draw by Bayelsa United. The result leaves the former champions bottom of the NPFL table with just six points from 11 matches.

Matchday 12 wraps up on Monday with three fixtures still to come.

Kun Khalifat will take on Rivers United in Owerri, Plateau United will face Bendel Insurance in Jos, and defending champions Remo Stars host El-Kanemi Warriors in Abeokuta.
