Nigeria’s Falconets have once again stamped their authority on West African women’s football after cruising to a 3-0 victory over Ghana’s Black Princesses.
The win earned the Falconets the 2025 WAFU B U-20 Girls Cup on Tuesday at Stade Omnisport d’Adjohoun in Benin Republic.
From the opening whistle, the Falconets looked sharper, faster, and more purposeful. Janet Akekoromowei gave Nigeria the lead in the 17th minute with a fine finish, and just seven minutes later, Alaba Olabiyi doubled the advantage to leave Ghana chasing shadows.
Ramotalahi Kareem put the result beyond doubt in the 61st minute, firing home to complete a convincing win that reflected the Falconets’ dominance throughout the tournament.
The Ghanaians struggled to match the energy and precision of the Falconets, who already had two goals on the board before the half-hour mark.
With this win, Nigeria wrapped up the competition with a perfect nine points and a +8 goal difference, having scored three goals in each of their three matches. Ghana finished second with six points after beating host nation Benin earlier in the tournament.
The Falconets had defeated Ghana 3-1 in their first meeting, thanks to a brace from Akekoromowei and a late strike from Favour Chiamaka. On Sunday, they dismantled Benin 3-0, with Kareem scoring twice and Precious Oscar adding the third.
Coach Moses Aduku’s side has been ruthless and disciplined throughout, combining flair with tactical balance.
Their consistent performances have now earned them back-to-back WAFU B titles, further solidifying Nigeria’s dominance at the youth level in the region.
Although their final fixture against Benin on Wednesday remains, it will serve more as a victory lap than a decider. The Falconets have already secured the trophy.
