Nathan Tella Back In Training At Bayer Leverkusen After Two-month Injury

Bayer Leverkusen received a welcome boost as winger Nathan Tella returned to full team training following a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a stubborn knee injury.

German newspaper Bild described the development as “good news for Bayer Leverkusen,” highlighting that Tella completed most of the session for the first time since mid-September.

The 26-year-old had been sidelined after suffering a knee knock in the 3-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on September 12, an injury that repeatedly stalled his recovery.

While it is still unclear if Tella will feature in Saturday’s Bundesliga trip to Wolfsburg, Bild noted that “the chances are not bad that Tella will at least be in the squad.”

During training, he skipped the final practice match but worked individually on passing and shooting drills alongside Axel Tape, who is also nearing a return from injury.

Manager Kasper Hjulmand appears to be easing Tella back carefully, focusing on ensuring a pain-free comeback after the winger’s extended absence.

Tella’s return could come at a pivotal moment. Arthur, who has been filling the right-wing role in recent matches, has produced inconsistent performances, creating an opening for Tella to reclaim his place in the team.

Leverkusen face a demanding run of eight matches over the next four weeks, including encounters with Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle United, and RB Leipzig. Tape is expected to be reintegrated gradually due to a muscle-tendon injury, while Lucas Vázquez remains sidelined with back issues.
