
The Abia State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has arrested a suspected criminal, Emeka Edwin Chukwuma, from Umuchu in Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State, and recovered a stolen Toyota Highlander SUV.
The vehicle, with registration number BBR667RM, was reported stolen in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, in 2022.
News reports that the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the development in a late-night statement on Thursday, issued on behalf of the state Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa.
“In furtherance of investigations into a case of a stolen vehicle reported in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, in 2022, but suspected to have been moved to Abia State, leveraging on credible and actionable intelligence, operatives of the Scorpion Squad Abia State Police Command, on 22/08/2025, recovered a Toyota Highlander SUV with registration number BBR667RM and apprehended one Emeka Edwin Chukwuma, a native of Umuchu, Aguata LGA, Anambra State,” the statement read.
According to the police, the complainant has been contacted to help ascertain the originality and ownership of the vehicle.
“Meanwhile, further investigations are ongoing,” DSP Chinaka added.
