Taiwo Awoniyi Earns High Praise From Coach Dyche After Nottingham Forest Win

Nottingham Forest head coach Sean Dyche has lauded Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi for his determination and work ethic, following the team’s first Premier League win under the new boss.

Awoniyi played 32 minutes as a second-half substitute in Forest’s 3-1 victory over Leeds on Sunday, marking his fourth league appearance of the season.

The Nigerian forward has now featured in three consecutive games under Dyche, all from the bench, showing readiness to make an impact whenever called upon.

“Taiwo was excellent. He seemed a little lost when we got in but he knows he has a part to play for us,” Dyche told BBC Sport.

“I thought he was excellent when he came on. He’s a bit of an unsung hero at times. He sometimes gets left out for no particular reason, but then comes on and runs right till the end. So, we’re going to need that, not just in this game, but through the season. They’ll get a few days off, but we’ll be buzzing to go again.”

Forest’s win at the City Ground saw goals from Ibrahim Sangare, Morgan Gibbs-White, and Elliot Anderson. While the win provided a boost, the team still sits 19th in the Premier League standings heading into the international break.
